I'm not a big fan of poetry, but liked this one. Cajun poet unknown.

> A LOUISIANA BLESSING
>
> Bless this house, oh Lord, we cry.
> Please keep it cool in mid-July.
> Bless the walls where termites dine,
> While ants and roaches march in time.
> Bless our yard where spiders pass
> Fire ant castles in the grass.
> Bless the garage, a home to please
> Carpenter beetles, ticks and fleas.
> Bless the love bugs, two by two,
> The gnats and mosquitoes that feed on you.
> Millions of creatures that fly or crawl,
> In Louisiana , Lord, you've put them all!!
> But this is home, and here we'll stay,
> So thank you Lord, for insect spray.
>
> Ah, what a place to call home...
>
> God Bless the State of Louisiana !!!
Addendum: A few more couplets to “A Louisiana Blessing.” Anyone got more?
Bless the fine flowers, floating in ditches,
Guarded by cottonmouths, worse than witches.
Bless pretty birds that nest by the fields,
Then do their business on auto windshields.
Bless the trees screening the hot sun out,
As falling leaves plug every down-spout.
Bless the still waters, so plentiful here,
Spawning the pests that lessen all cheer.
Bless the raccoons, cute as they clowned,
Pick up your garbage, they’ve strewn round.
Bless hyacinth blooms and their pleasant odor,
While floating roots foul a treasured boat motor.
Bless scenic bayous and nearby bogs,
Giving us ‘gators to snatch up pet dogs.
To be continued???
